On November 16th 1959, The Sound of Music premiered on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. With music and lyrics by the legendary American musical theatre collaborators Rodgers and Hammerstein, The Sound of Music has won 5 Tony Awards as well as a Grammy Award for Best Show Album.
