Should you have a short arm action? Should you have a long arm action? You’re looking at the wrong thing in my opinion. The arm doesn’t create the throw. It’s responding to what the rest of the system is doing. How the torso moves, when rotation happens, how energy is transferred—that’s what shapes the arm action. What people call “short” or “long” is just how that shows up. Mostly just elbow flexion at different moments, not something you need to micromanage. “Dead arm” doesn’t mean do nothing.
