Disclaimer: any extremely porous CERAMIC tile we will soak prior to setting for 15/20 minutes. We pull the tile from the water and let it dry, if it’s still wet while we are setting it gets wiped down until dry. The purpose is to keep the tile hydrated so it does not suck the water out of the thinset causing it to dry quickly and will allow you more working time if you need to make adjustments. This is a personal preference of mine however some ceramic tile/stone tile manufacturers require this
