Our visitors aren't the only ones who enjoy having a snack at one of our picnic shelters! This Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) plopped himself down at one of our picnic tables and got to work on a holiday feast of his very own, a Loblolly Pine cone! The tough scales of a pine cone protect the seeds inside, but squirrels have the perfect tool to access them.
