President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke over the phone on Monday about trade, the Russia-Ukraine war and travel plans.
President Trump confirmed on Monday that he held a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, stating that they discussed, among other things, the ongoing negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. CBS News White House reporter Willie James Inman has more.
President Trump said he accepted an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit China in April and invited Xi to the US for a state visit.
Russia and China have maintained close ties with Maduro, whom opposition parties and international observers say stole the 2018 election. The United States and a number of other governments have recognized Maduro’s opponent as Venezuela’s legitimate leader.
