The bill cleared a key hurdle early this morning after the president and House Speaker Mike Johnson persuaded a group of Republican holdouts to change their votes.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives on Thursday launched a final yes-or-no vote on President Donald Trump's massive tax-cut and spending bill after the chamber's top Democrat delayed action with a record-breaking speech that lasted more than eight hours.

After nearly seven hours of a stalemate on the floor, House Republicans plan to move forward with the rule vote shortly to advance Trump’s megabill. Full attendance is expected in the House. It’s unclear if Republicans will be able to pass the rule.
