NEW YORK -- As the Philadelphia 76ers move forward with this 2025-26 season, Jared McCain is going to play an important role in whatever success the Sixers have. The second-year guard is working his way back from a torn meniscus in his left knee along with a torn UCL in his right thumb in an effort to help this group succeed.
Jared McCain had 20 points off the bench, Quentin Grimes added 19, and Paul George had 14 to help the short-handed Sixers snap a two-game losing streak.
The NBA knows you can't get too much of a good thing. Shortly after the Pacers beat the Washington Wizards 119-86 in a matchup of the teams with the two worst records in the league, it was announced the teams will play again in Indianapolis on Dec. 14 at 3 p.m.
Here are the three biggest takeaways for the Philadelphia 76ers following their NBA Cup road win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.
Joel Embiid has not played since Nov. 8, but he is just one of many Sixers to deal with injury issues over the last few weeks.
Not for the first time, Joel Embiid’s status was the most noteworthy item from an extended Sixers injury report Monday night.
Philadelphia were non-competitive against Orlando, and nowhere near the resilient team they have been for most of the season.
Andre Drummond left the Sixers' win in Brooklyn on Friday night due to a right knee sprain. The team will hope the veteran's resurgent season is not halted for too long.
To Nurse's point, it isn't just the Embiid and George factors. The Sixers are also dealing with injuries to Kelly Oubre Jr., VJ Edgecombe, and Trendon Watford. They just got Adem Bona back from a right ankle sprain against Brooklyn, but then lost Andre Drummond to a right knee sprain, so that leaves the rotation thin on a nightly basis.
