While the 41-day-long agitation began after August 9, when a junior doctor was raped and murdered in the premises of Kolkata's R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, the doctors began a sit-in protest outside Swasthya Bhawan on September 10.

The doctors will end their sit-in demonstration before Swasthya Bhawan, the headquarters of the state health department in Salt Lake, which was ongoing for the 10th day on Thursday.

The junior doctors called off their protest after the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government accepted most of the demands of the medics.
