Legends Ice Cream & Snacks, a Latin ice cream shop in East Charlotte, is among the businesses closing indefinitely during U.S. Border Patrol arrests throughout the area.

The Trump administration is planning to dispatch Border Patrol agents to Charlotte and New Orleans to oversee immigration operations that could involve armored vehicles and special operations teams.

Vanessa Blancas and her sister Daisy went with their father to Super G Sunday but were wary about Border Patrol after Saturday’s incident. The Blancas, born in the United States but of Mexican heritage, said when they arrived they were “looking for immigration cars.”

Willy Aceituno, a Charlotte resident, is disputing claims made by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding the footage of his recent interaction with Border Patrol agents. He asserts he was "not at all erratic" and argues his actions were in self-defense.

The Trump administration has made the Democratic city of about 950,000 people its latest target for an immigration enforcement surge it says will combat crime, despite fierce objections from local leaders and downtrending crime rates.

At one school in east Charlotte, parents started a rotation for people to watch for immigration enforcement and Border Patrol actvitity.

A Charlotte landscaper said he is “spooked” by Border Patrol activity in Charlotte over the weekend on Nov.17, 2025. He said businesses, including his, are being impacted.

Witnesses say subcontractors were working at the site on Brookridge Lane in south Charlotte when Border Patrol pulled up and attempted to arrest them.
