Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), a son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, has acknowledged that the 50% tariffs imposed by the US Republican Government of Donald Trump on Brazilian exports were “unfair” to his country's productive sector.

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday he planned to hit Brazil with a 50% tariff, in part because of the treatment of its former president Jair Bolsonaro, his political ally.

Brazil’s President forcefully rebuked Trump after the U.S. leader called the prosecution of Lula’s predecessor, Bolsonaro, a “witch hunt” and hiked tariffs on the Latin American nation.

US President Donald Trump defended former Brazilian President Bolsonaro, calling him 'a very honest man' and criticising the current Brazilian leadership. Trump also announced 35% tariff on Canadian goods starting August 1st.
