Jeremy Swayman will not be taking the ice for the Boston Bruins until he and the team agrees to a new contract.

Bruins GM Don Sweeney is disappointed they haven't been able to reach an agreement with goalie Jeremy Swayman on a new contract, but is optimistic it will get done before Swayman has to sit out the season.

The Bruins GM reiterated that signing the restricted free agent goalie is his top priority and said some media reports about negotiations were inaccurate.

NHL training camps opened Wednesday with Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman among the key unsigned restricted free agents. Swayman, 25, is poised to run with the No. 1 goalie designation in Boston after the Bruins traded Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in the offseason.

For now, the Bruins will have to forge ahead with both Joonas Korpisalo and Brandon Bussi as their primary options in net.

Don Sweeney called out reporting around Swayman's negotiations Wednesday and twice mentioned Dec. 1, the drop-dead date for a contract.
