The impending winter storm is set to begin across the south-central U.S. on Friday.

Some very cold weather is moving further south in what the Weather Channel is calling Winter Storm Fern.

The Winter storm watch applies to all five boroughs, Long Island and northern New Jersey as the National Weather Service predicts “localized accumulations over 12 inches possible.”
