Frustrated with her disappearing parcels, a California woman sends herself one with a tracking device inside and reports the location to the authorities.

A California woman whose mail was recently stolen used technology as bait to track down the thieves, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies in Santa Barbara County said they caught two suspected mail thieves after a woman put an Apple AirTag in a package and mailed it to herself.

The woman had had several items stolen from her mailbox at the Los Alamos Post Office already when she thought of the idea.

The thieves were found with the victim’s stolen package containing the AirTag as well as items believed to be swiped from more than a dozen additional victims.

Fed up with her packages being stolen from her post office box, she sent an Apple AirTag to herself to track down the thieves.

Apple’s $29 AirTags have become popular items since their 2021 release, helping users keep tabs on the location of anything from their lost keys to wallets and luggage.
