The U.S. stock market swung through another unsettled day of trading, ahead of a couple of crucial tests for Wall Street.

S&P 500 rose 0.9% and the Nasdaq gained 1.5% on Wednesday, while the Dow added 108 points, or 0.2%, as traders positioned for Nvidia’s Q3 earnings. Nvidia jumped over 3% ahead of results expected to show strong AI-chip demand.

The Dow Jones index fell on the stock market today. Lithium stocks rose on bullish commentary. Alphabet jumped on a Warren Buffett move.

Stocks were stabilizing on Wednesday in part because of the possibility that the delayed September jobs report, scheduled for release tomorrow, may show some strength. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 finished Tuesday's session with a fourth straight day of declines,
