The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Committee of Las Vegas is preparing to host the 44th annual Birthday Parade in downtown Las Vegas Monday, with thousands expected to attend the celebration.

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day here, the NHL will have a full slate of games to celebrate. On Monday, Jan. 19, starting at 1:30 p.m. ET, there will be 10 hockey games happening. Throughout the years, franchises have marked MLK Day in various ways such as special decals on helmets, tributes to those who've pushed diversity in the sport, and more.

Dozens of families across the valley came together this afternoon to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy at the Taste the Dream Food Truck Festival in the Historic Westside.

The distribution will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot at 940 E. Genesee Ave. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The soup kitchen is partnering with Hidden Harvest, HELP, and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan for the event.
