A new state senator for Mississippi’s District 26 will be selected in the Dec. 2 runoff between Kamesha Mumford and Letitia Johnson.

Mississippi Senate District 26 became vacant after John Horhn resigned to become mayor of Jackson. The winner will serve the remainder of his term.

The polls are closed and the votes are being counted in the special runoff election.
