比較基準となる2023年8月のCPI上昇率が6.83％と高水準だったことから、ベース効果によりインフレの伸びは抑制されたが、消費者物価の半分近い比重を占める食品のインフレ率（注2）は前年同月比5.66％と、前月の5.42％から上昇した。特に野菜の上昇率は10.71％と、前月の6.83％から上昇しており高止まりが続いている。全品目のインフレ率は都市部で3.14％、農村部4.16％だった。
