At around 6 p.m., a man, identified as 21-year-old Nasire Best, approached a White House checkpoint in the 17th St. and Pennsylvania Avenue area, pulled a gun out of his bag and fired off three shots.

Officials said the suspect in the deadly shooting near the White House had a series of documented mental health issues.

The weather remains unsettled through the middle of the week , before drier conditions and seasonable temperatures late in the week and heading into next weekend.
