Israel says that halting Hezbollah’s attacks in the north in order to allow its residents to return is now an official war goal as it considers a wider military operation in Lebanon.

Residents in northern Israel expressed scepticism Tuesday after the security cabinet declared stopping attacks by Lebanon's militant group Hezbollah is a new war goal, saying it should have been a priority much earlier.
