Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders reignited the controversy over how allies of Donald Trump talk about stepmothers and childless women when she told supporters of the former president Tuesday night that Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything to keep her humble.

The sustained support from women has put Kamala Harris within reach of defeating Donald Trump, but her campaign is urgently working to bolster its standing with another group of voters that could ultimately determine the election: Men.

Kamala Harris has acknowledged that she must do more to win over Black male voters, amid fears that a once reliable cohort of Democratic voters is turning to Donald Trump. Harris said she did not assume that Black men would vote for her “because I am Black” but was “working to earn [their] vote” ahead of the November presidential election.
