The U.S. Federal Trade Commission won a ruling on Friday blocking Edwards Lifesciences' acquisition of JenaValve Technology, court records showed. The FTC sued in August, saying the deal would decrease competition in the market for a device meant to treat a potentially fatal heart condition.

The lower court granted summary judgment against both Corpay and Clarke in favor of the FTC. It also handed down permanent injunctive relief against Corpay that would require a large range of disclosures regarding terms and conditions for its fuel card customers, and that they be made more transparent.

One of the changes is that failure to pay a fine or repay a purse by the prescribed deadline will result in an automatic suspension.

WASHINGTON, Jan 7 (Reuters) - The White House is withdrawing its nomination of Ryan Baasch for a Federal Trade Commission seat and instead naming him deputy director of the National Economic Council, elevating his role in shaping tech, telecom and competition policy, a White House official told Reuters.

Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, have requested the dismissal of a lawsuit brought against them by the Federal Trade Commission.

The move, which stems from President Trump’s 2025 AI action plan, shows the FTC’s willingness to afford AI firms “a relatively longer leash,” Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein attorneys wrote.

According to the FTC's report, there was a spike in reported losses from fraud among people 60 years and older. The FTC reported a rise from $600 million in losses in 2020, to $2.4 billion in losses in 2024.

The FTC advises consumers to look at a variety of sources and check whether a website or its reviews are independent or sponsored.
