The music world is mourning on Tuesday after the death of an iconic and influential artist. R&B singer D'Angelo - a pioneer of neo-soul and one of the most influential musicians of the 90s and early 2000s - died on Tuesday at the age of 51 after a private battle with pancreatic cancer.
From her website: “Rest in peace, Michael Eugene Archer, known to the world of music as the inimitable D’Angelo. We thank you for your beautiful music, your voice, your proficiency on the piano, your artistry. You were the pioneer of neo-soul and that changed and transformed rhythm & blues forever. We will never forget you.”
Known for both his openness and his mysteriousness, the rapper, producer — and now actor — keeps people guessing.
D’Angelo’s artistry became embedded in the culture of R&B and the neo-soul architect’s brilliance influenced Tyler growing up. Elsewhere in his statement, Tyler revealed that D’Angelo’s soothing “One Mo’Gin” directly influenced Don’t Tap the Glass ‘ “RING RING RING.”
All Points East have confirmed Tyler, the Creator will headline two nights of the festival in 2026. Turnstile, Clipse, and Vince Staples will also appear.
