The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two tropical waves with a chance for development while major Hurricane Gabrielle prompts advisories in the Azores.

As the tropics continue to heat up with recently formed Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, a tropical storm watch was issued for parts of Florida on Saturday.

Swells generated by Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Humberto are affecting the Bahamas and are currently spreading to much of the U.S. East Coast. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

Gov. Henry McMaster will deliver a briefing Saturday afternoon on the state’s efforts to prepare for the effects of Tropical Depression Nine.
