The government has approved the hiring of 1,514 additional security personnel, comprising 910 men and 604 women, for 29 hospitals and medical colleges. This initiative aims to strengthen security across all medical colleges in response to the tragic rape and murder of R G Kar.

The junior doctors expressed “unhappiness” lack of concrete assurances and said their sit-in protests would continue.

While pressing their new demands, the junior doctors have sought security in hospitals, the development of the healthcare system, the resignation of the state Health Secretary, among others.
