Japanese anime studio Production I.G. has confirmed it's involved in the animated version of Dante's Inferno with the Film Roman production company, according to this AnimeNewsNetwork report.

With talent from "Blood the Last Vampire" and "Ergo Proxy" (oh, and "Samauri Champloo") involved, it should've been clear that "Dante's Inferno: The Animated Epic" was going to be sickeningly violent.
