Hurricane Imelda formed Tuesday, Sept. 30, off the Florida coast. The Category 1 hurricane is expected to strengthen.
Hurricane Imelda formed on Tuesday as it moved away from Florida and the Bahamas with a path that could make a direct hit on Bermuda, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Imelda is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane as it moves off the Southeast coast this week, kicking up dangerous surf, rip currents, coastal flooding and beach erosion from Florida through the Carolinas.
