CLEVELAND, Ohio — Slow-moving thunderstorms could produce torrential downpours across parts of Northeast Ohio on Friday, creating a localized flooding risk before drier weather arrives for the weekend.
The National Weather Service issued an urgent flash flood warning for portions of Cook, DuPage and Kane counties, warning residents to avoid travel as significant flash flooding brought on by multiple inches of rain triggered “dangerous and life-threatening” situations.
Severe thunderstorms are forecasted to sweep across large patches of the U.S. this weekend, with risks of flash floods in some areas.
Heavy rainfall from storms on Thursday, July 9, into Friday, July 10, has caused flash flooding and damage in the Heartland.
