Every summer season, Kindle sales are the highest because people organize vacations and do not want to lug around stacks of books. The Kindle is the perfect travel companion: it occupies virtually no space, is as close to reading a real book as can be, and can hold thousands of books.

Like all of the newer Kindle models, the Paperwhite is a fairly expensive purchase to make without a significant discount. Amazon doesn't have good Kindle deals very often, so seeing this model down to its lowest price ever for Prime Day is noteworthy.

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is my favorite Kindle for most people because it is water resistant, making it perfect for reading at the beach or in the tub. That also means it's just more durable than the basic Kindle, though to be fair, Amazon says it will replace a Kindle Kids device for free if your kids break it.
