From the moment it happened in 2011, the partnership seemed like a lower-stakes, modern-day version of mutually assured destruction: Bell Canada Enterprises and Rogers Communications, each other’s primary competitors, coming together to buy a majority share of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE).

The Toronto Raptors ownership is shifting around, but nothing much will change for the franchise. The Raptors and the NHL's Maple Leafs are owned by Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE). Rogers Communications and Bell (BCE) each own 37.

Rogers Communications has acquired Bell Canada Enterprises' 37.5% share of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. The deal was for $4.7 billion Canadian dollars, equivalent to $3.4 billion USD, via Scott Soshnick and Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico. MLSE functions as the Raptors and Maple Leafs' parent company.
