Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold had a tough day at the office on Sunday. Seattle's starter matched a career-worst with four interceptions thrown to the Rams, with each being a little worse than the last. Darnold's turnovers directly contributed to the Seahawks' narrow 21-19 defeat on the road to knock them out of first place.
Although the Seahawks weren't able to pull off a comeback win on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, it was Seattle's defense, Jason Myers' four field goals and a Kenneth Walker III touchdown that kept the Seahawks in the game, despite struggles in the passing game.
However, since the Seattle Seahawks were winning games, those issues were somehow swept under the rug. Entering Sunday’s showdown with the Los Angeles Rams, Seahawks’ quarterback Sam Darnold had thrown an interception in three consecutive games.
After the game, Seahawks linebacker (and former Ram) Ernest Jones IV took to the podium and had strong words about Darnold. Instead of lambasting the performance, Jones went to bat for his quarterback and defended him in no uncertain terms. Jones' full, uncensored, comments can be seen below.
Despite their limited time with the ball, the Rams never trailed. Quarterback Matthew Stafford said postgame that it was "a strange game momentum-wise" because of the turnovers and Seattle's longer drives, which made it difficult for the Rams to find a rhythm offensively.
