A cyber criminal has made contact with Australia's Qantas following a data breach last week that exposed personal information of six million customers, a company spokesperson told Reuters on Tuesday.

Qantas Airways has revealed that a cyber breach exposed the personal information of 5.7 million customers, including phone numbers, birth dates, and addresses for over a million individuals. The airline is actively monitoring the situation and has implemented additional security measures.

Qantas received an extortion attempt following the cyberattack and data breach at one of the Australian airline's call centers.
