Imelda, the ninth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, strengthened into a hurricane on Tuesday.
At 5 a.m. Sunday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that the tropical depression is in the Atlantic Ocean, 275 miles northwest of the Eastern Tip of Cuba and 100 miles west-southwest of the Central Bahamas. It is moving north-northwest at 7 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph.
A day after forming as the fourth hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic Ocean season, Hurricane Imelda had officially become stronger than Humberto Wednesday morning as it took aim at Bermuda, forecasters with the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.
Miami is set to experience near-record temperatures of 93 degrees, followed by thunderstorms later in the week.
