The park, in Rathgar, was named after Belfast-born and Dublin-raised Chaim Herzog, a former president of Israel, in 1995. Councillors were set to vote on a motion to rename the park on Monday.
A proposal to rename Herzog Park in Dublin “should be withdrawn in its entirety and not proceeded with”, Ireland’s premier Micheal Martin has said. The Office of the President of Israel expressed concern on Saturday over the proposed renaming of the park in south Dublin.
