Is the Sonic OVA worth watching? Where can I watch it?
WEBI love it, and I only watched it for the first time a decade or so ago so it’s not like there’s the childhood nostalgia aspect (well, there’s still the general Sonic nostalgia). I liked the interpretations of the characters and the art style, the setting was really really cool, and the story is pretty alright.

WEBMassive disagree - The OVA does have its flaws (like the Eggman and Sara wedding thing? Don't like that) but I'm always coming back to it! The backgrounds are so pretty and so is the music. There's the one scene right after the Tornado crashes, Sonic and Tails are traversing the landscape. My favourite bit, the music is a jam. Also Metal Sonic.

Aspects of the OVA are really weird (the setting, Land of the Sky/Land of Darkness, the President/Sara, etc.), but overall it's probably the most tone and character accurate adaptation of Sonic we've ever gotten. It has a lot of great visuals, and nearly every shot with Metal Sonic is beautiful.

WEBDec 15, 2021 — The OVA looks gorgeous and feels way more "Sonic" than the Sonic movie, so I personally prefer it Although I think the Sonic movie has better writing and character development, so I think it can stand on its own as a movie better. Basically, I think the sonic OVA is better for fans and the movie is better for a general movie-going audience.
