WEBNov 4, 2020 · The X5 is a good sixe for those wanting a compact hatchet for on the bushcraft belt, where the longer handle of the X7 might be cumbersome and in the way during activities. Also a nice size hatchet for next to the stove. A nice tool for the ruck as well, where the handle wont get in the way.

I think I use my Fiskars hatchet since 30 years. Yes there are other very nice hatchets too, but I indeed recommend the X7 to beginners. Generally.

WEBJan 12, 2017 · For the strength test I made a slot in a 2X2, screwed it to my benchtop and clamped the axe in by the cheek. I made up a macgyver style platform to load it. There was a 1.5m halfcut pine log, two large pieces of birch burl and my little compressor sitting on it. Total weight was 59kgs (130lbs) in a Static load.

WEBDec 21, 2014 · Southern Utah. Mar 4, 2017. #1. While browsing Walmarts new outdoor section I came across the Ozark trail hatchet and immediately thought of a Fiskars X7. It is $16 and made in India, it seemed well made so I picked it up to compare to my X7. I tried it out for about an hour chopping many 1"-6" branches and have to say that I am impressed.

However, they don’t call it an X7, it doesn’t really have a name, just the Fiskars Hatchet. It’s a new product from Fiskars, and I’m just curious to see if anyone else here is using one. WEBDec 18, 2012 · But stay away from the cheap Gerber line. ED-E said: Fiskars X-Series. Gerber Back Paxe II = Fiskars X5. Gerber Sport Axe II = Fiskars X7. Gerber Camp Axe II = Fiskars X10. (The first Gerber axe models are equivalent to the first Fiskars axe models) Gerber Gator axes are made in Taiwan. IMHO, not comparable.

On a related note, I've wanted one of the axe or hatchet heads from a broken one to tinker with. My Fiskers axe is 10 or 11 years old and I've not broken it, BTW.

WEBAug 3, 2023 · Cap the paper towels with modeling clay which when all done should be about 1/4” or so below the lanyard hole. - Basically just making a dam to contain casting resin so the handle doesn’t fill. - Tape over the two lanyard holes and coat everything inside with release agent again.
